Sinbad: Perth Pantomime - 30 November 2019 - 4 January 2020

Perth Pantomime While most people are only just saying goodbye to summer, others are already looking towards the holiday season. Christmas is less than four months away, which means it’s time to start thinking about booking tickets for the Panto. For those living in Perth, Sinbad is definitely a fun option to consider. Taking place in Perth Theatre, one of the oldest repertory theatre companies in Scotland from November, it is a new take on an old tale.

The Story of Sinbad
After enduring seven long voyages, Sinbad has returned home to Perthepolis to enjoy Christmas with his family. All he wants is to enjoy himself with those he loves. Unfortunately, things don’t quite as he’d hoped. Instead, he finds himself in a cramped houseboat. Surrounding him are boisterous neighbours and a louder-than-life Dame (because what would panto be without a Dame?). Which means instead of the peace, and quite he was expecting, he finds himself in the middle of an adventure he could never have imagined.

The Story of Perth Theatre
To protect one of Scotland’s oldest theatres, Horsecross Arts took over Perth Theatre (which had lost some of its former glory) in 2005. Horsecross Arts was set up expressly to run Perth Theatre, along with the Perth Concert Hall, and has taken it through an extensive restoration. This was completed in 2017 when the theatre re-opened its doors.

Included in the renovation was a new studio with a 200-person capacity and community rooms. It is now home to a whole host of different productions including dramas, musicals, dance performances, comedy shows and community events. Then there’s the pantomime.

Visiting the Pantomime
Sinbad opens on 30 November 2019 and runs through 4 January 2020. Depending on the day, there are either one or two performances (the majority of which are at 2 PM and 7 PM). Ticket prices start at £9.50 (off-peak) and £11.50 (peak).

Perth Theatre is located in the city centre, making it easily accessible for those who live locally and ideal for those staying in Pitlandie Wood Lodges over winter. The beautiful lodge offer high-quality accommodation just 15 minutes away from Perth and Perth Theatre’s Sinbad production!
